Test firing ammo I made for my 9mm pinfire revolver from the 1870s
I started with a 30-30 Winchester case to make the ammo. The case was filled with 4F Goex black powder, leaving just enough room for the bullet which was cast from a Lee mold for .36 cal black powder revolvers.

I bought this at IMA (International Military Antiques) and got it cleaned up in record time. Here's the first shot through it in over 150 years. .58 cal Minie over 65 grains of FFG Goex black powder. I aimed it at a steel target at 100 yards. Sandbagged and trigger pulled by a strong to be as safe as possible. The firing pin is hitting the primer really high, probably the reason it took two att...

I removed the nipple, poked as much FFFG black powder as I could in the hole, replaced the nipple and fired a cap. The best way to clear a clogged flash channel. There's something brass looking at the bottom of the breech, and there was still some smoke in the bore from the cap and little bit of BP.

Excellent video. My Snider is a commercial civilian model made in England that ended up in Canada. Luckily for me it loves .585 lead round balls, for which I have a mould I bought decades ago at a gun show, long before I acquired my rifle. I still have some of those cheddite hulls and loaded them like you do in your video. Unfortunately the weather here in the mid-Atlantic has been terrible for most of june. Rain almost everyday and extreme heat. I may not get to shoot until mid-September.

Nice work on the pin fire cartridges, that's awesome you can make your own pin fire cartridges, I was watching a video where this guy was shooting a 7mm pin fire revolver and he was saying it cost him $20.00 dollars per pin fire cartridge. Thanks for sharing.

If those look "good" then I'm a monkey's uncle. Those are junk crap rifles and no mistake. I know because I have one bought from Sarco in the 1970s for $69 based on a beautiful photo of a tiger striped example in the ad image borrowed from Ludwig Olson's classic Mauser book (p.78). What I got was a POS like these guns: black wood, corroded steel, and sewer pipe bore. It was the worst milsurp I ever bought and I have dozens. Pure junk. These guys were probably on Amazon River gunboat duty for decades and were never cleaned or cared for. These are 20 buck wallhangers and nothing more. Junk!

I just got a confederate 53 had bullet in it that I’ve got out the stock is broke like someone used it as a club it’s cracked but I hot hide glued it up and will probably shave and scab in a bit to strengthen it because the stock has import marks it a non adjustable sight smooth bore. Rough but Soon as the nipple is clear it’ll be firing again.

That’s a 1966 or 67. Not from the 50’s like the cameraman was saying. Factory 26 didn’t even start making spike bayonets until 1965. So if you see a Type 56 factory 26, you could immediately tell if it’s a 1965 or newer if it’s got the spike. If it’s a blade bayonet, the opposite is true and it is older than 1965.
